My mother and I were treated less than human. The staff was short and rude. We had to ask for everything and not once did anyone ask us how the food was or how we were doing. We had to ask for ketchup, coffee, and stop the waitress. She would go to other tables to ask others and interact with them but not us. When we asked for a refill on coffee, the waitress grabbed the pot and refilled every other patron’s cup before us. When we asked for the ketchup, she grabbed it, left it on the table and ran away without any eye contact. The waitress came around and took our plates without asking if we were done. My mom had to grab her plate with food still on it before it was ripped away. The worst part? When I went to use the bathroom, one of the waitresses stared at me, after I closed the door I heard staff saying, “It just went into the bathroom.” Yes. “It.” She then banged on the door until I said, “I’m coming out.” No explanation. And no one went in after me. Great food, mean people. Might be because I have short hair and don’t wear makeup. Unfortunately, some people assume LGBT and automatically treat myself and people I’m with very poorly. I can’t think of any other explanation. We smiled, said please and thank you, and left a nice tip.
Ordered one vegetable garden scramble and a pecan pancake (dish of the season) with the “real” maple syrup. I asked what did she mean by real maple syrup, I was told - not store bought. I guess probably it was homemade and undoubtedly the best I have eaten till date.
And the ambience was soooooo pretty, clean and nice. It was full of pretty things. I wish I could stay there. :D
There was a 20minutes wait time to finally get a table. But cannot blame on them because we saw the long queue outside and then entered. Long queue to me means a “definitely-eat” place.
Loved it. Enjoyed it. The taste has left a permanent mark on my brain.
The best I loved and can say is - the food was just yum yum yum!
It's small. Let's get that out of the way. Now go there and eat. It's wonderful. I had breakfast tacos that were fresh and flavorful, and corned beef hash that was clearly in house made and some of the best I've ever had.
We stayed in the area for four days for our 25th anniversary and Stairway Cafe was the only eatery we repeatedly ate. Three mornings we had amazing food and service! The space was cozy, cute and clean. The food was consistently delicious! And the wait staff was friendly and attentive. We felt like part of the family! Highly recommended! Go early in the morning as they fill up fast!
Never had breakfast there heard it was good did have a hamburger one of the best I have had up here in the valley. Nominally priced very good quality. Would definitely go there again only issue I have is with hours of operation.
